- Graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Regional Engineering College (REC and now NIT), Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. Holds a Masters Degree in Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
- Has served in the Indian Navy for 36 years in various capacities. Spearheaded the weapons (missiles and gunnery systems); Sensors (radars and sonars) and communication system modernisation, installation and proving on the Navy’s ships and submarines.
- Spearheaded the Indo-Russia Military Technical Cooperation as its Member Secretary from the Navy, in the field of Electrical/Electronics with special emphasis on weapons/sensors (Radars) and ship building.

- Coordinated the Indo-Israel working group activities from the Navy in the field of special radars and missiles leading to its induction, testing and proving on bound Indian Navy Ships.
- Superannuated in July 2023 in the rank of Vice Admiral as the Director General Naval Projects.
- Ati Visisht Seva Medal by the President of India in 2021.
- Nao Sena Medal by the President of India in 2010.
- Commendation by the Chief of the Naval Staff in 2003.
